It happens to everyone. It’s so easy to jump into your day, focused on the infamous, “To Do” list.

Setting goals, daily and otherwise, is a skill that comes easy for me, like falling off a bicycle.

The hard part is getting the tasks done.
Maybe you’ve experienced, like me, rolling out of bed one morning with renewed determination. This will be the day those stubborn, repeat items on the list will be checked off!

Those stubborn items, that I’ve written and rewritten on my “To Do” list that seem to evade my efforts to complete them. I’ve carried over these unfinished tasks to new lists so many times, that their imprint is permanently grooved on each successive page of my notepad.
But, not today, I tell myself!
Then life happens. You enter your car, turn the ignition on, and find the battery is dead.
Or, the clouds have silently sabotaged your exit from home by dumping drifts of snow overnight while you slumbered peacefully.

Or the cat coughed up a hair ball on your new sweater.

Or the washer decided to hold your first load of clothes, ransom in a tub of water, to soak indefinitely, or until the repair man arrives.

Life can be stressful.
Especially, if our “To Do” lists stand by tapping their foot with impatience.
The delays mentioned above might be the hors d’oeuvres to the main course of detours and problems that you might find on the job.

Job expectations may create stress, anxiety, anger, or even a sense of hopelessness.

What to do? Look for a “bit of funny”.
A “bit of funny”

might push itself unexpectedly into in the long line of irritating incidents to provide the relief you need and help refresh you on your day’s journey.
Expect these minor “bits of funny” to pop up anywhere, anytime. They might be like the flash of a firefly, but if you keep your eyes open, you may become proficient in spotting them and the welcome relief they bring from the pressures of the day.

One such “bit of funny” occurred at the high school office where my husband taught. The high school secretary was busy managing the chaotic pressures of keeping the school running efficiently, when my husband interrupted her with a question she didn’t expect.
This “bit of funny” broke the stress and tension the secretary wrestled under, bringing a smile to her face and relief from, at least briefly, the stress of the job.
When my husband recounted the incident to me, I promptly turned it into a comic strip, hoping to capture this “bit of funny” for others to enjoy.
Enjoy.

There is ample research proclaiming the benefits of laughing. Researchers encourage everyone to take time each day to laugh, noting the many short and long term benefits laughter provides.

If you find it hard to laugh, try “fake” laughing with someone, until the silliness turns into real laughter.
Apparently, the adage: “Fake it until you make it” applies to another adage: “Laughter is the best medicine”.
Whether you, giggle, chuckle, guffaw, titter, snicker, chortle, whoop, or howl, I encourage you to be on the look out

for those illusive “bits of funny” that might unexpectedly insert itself into your day, lighten your mood, and help you pursue the never-ending list of “Things To Do”.
There are always things to do. But remember to take time to laugh. It’s good for you.

The mouse comic strip was great fun. The relief she experiences beautifully captured by your artwork.
My sense of humor is my favorite personal trait. My whole family enjoyed humor and each one of us is funny. I’ll share a comment made by my brother when we see each other.
