Before the Clock Strikes Fall

Summer is officially here! Yay!
We’ve climbed the sunlight ladder to the top of June 21st, the day with the longest daylight. It was a steep, long, and hard climb, but we made it.

Rickety-rung later photo gives the feeling of climbing up the long slow ascent to summer

How wonderful the view is from the top of this ladder. So bright with possibilities to soar high and wide as far as our thoughts and imagination can take us.

Michigan sunshine-time pours energy that fuels, not only plant life,

but me!

Gone are Michigan winters that saw me curled up in my pjs by 5:00pm. Now, early sunshine awakens me to tend flowers, take walks, visit friends, or tackle projects, with renewed energy. The lengthened daylight at the end of the day keeps me active to ridiculously late hours. The extra sunlight spills

its invisible superpowers inside the walls of my house, chasing away winter shadows and spotlighting new indoor possibilities.

Summer sunlight transforms me, like Cinderella going off to the ball. My eyes are opened to exhilarating opportunities when summer sunlight chases away winter shadows.

Yes, it was a steep climb to get to this point, but it seems to be an all too short and fast slide down. Like Cinderella, I realize the urgency to reconnect with all the summer fun before

the clock strikes “Fall” and the wheels on my carriage drop off into the grips of Winter.

Outdoor activities are eagerly planned. My mouth waters for the hot dogs perfectly charred on an open grill.

My feet long to splash their way through waves that wash away the sand clinging to each toe.

Lungs inhale deeply, exchanging stagnant air for the scent of pine.

Robin’s song, crashing waterfalls, or ear-piercing quiet on wooded paths, alert my ears to the mysteries of nature.

This brings to mind the chorus from “Sunrise, Sunset”, a song from the classic 1964 Broadway musical Fiddler on the Roof. The song reminds me how quickly days slip away.

Quick!
Scoop it all up! Hold it all close. Fill every day with the warmth and treasures of this bright season. Love every minute and you will be rich
